"Clark ov Saturn, Trip Hop Naked. According to this j-card, Clark mixed this entire set in his birthday suit, which explains the title but also raises a question or two about the DJ. That fact aside, this is a solid selection of slower and undeniably funky cuts that will keep your head bobbin' but probably won't work up a sweat on the dance floor. The flavor is definitely slow-mo' tempo with the emphasis more on downbeat soul vibrations than uptempo breakbeats, which comes as welcome support to this often overlooked side of the mixtape mission. Large doses of jazz and old-school hip-hop influences are evident, peppered with heavily echoed samples, an occasional female vocal and some Asian instrumentation, which makes for a sum far greater than its individual parts. This is the tape to play late night after the party's over, when you're ready to--- as the title suggests-- trip hop naked." Contact: clarkovsaturn@gmail.com
